Hello, my name is Caryn Maltby.
I was born in Austin, Texas but have lived in New Braunfels my whole life. I went to Canyon High School and graduated in 2016. Fall of 2016 is when I came to Texas State University as a nursing major. I started working as a student worker at Texas State's Network Operations department in August of 2016 and have worked there ever since. I have also done two graphic design internships, one for the Habitat for Humanity in New Braunfels and one for KTSW 89.9 in Summer of 2019. Since starting at Texas State, I changed my major to Digital Media Innovation and my minor to Art & Design and I've never been happier. I am projected to graduate in December of 2020.
When I was a kid, I tried pretty much every activity I could. I am an only child so my parents signed me up for almost everything to try to spark my interests. I was in 3 different girl scout groups, I played basketball for one season (our coach quit) and soccer for 3 seasons. I took a lot of art classes as well, in and out of school, as I've always had an interest in art. In high school, I was in colorguard for two years and I took a few AP classes including 2D Design.
One of my favorite things to do is going thrifting. I love finding unique and vintage clothes at super cheap prices. A few weekends ago I bought some vintage jeans for $1.50 and when I got home I tried them on after washing them and there was a $20 bill in the back pocket! I also love finding hidden gems and reselling them for a small profit. I also love trying new types of art, like embroidery and wood burning, but I mostly stick to painting and drawing. Another hobby of mine is taking my dog to the dog park, as it's a great way to get some sun and pet a lot of dogs.
